RANDOLPH — Community garden volunteers recently tried out their new two-wheel tractor, an Italian product with a Honda motor designed for gardens or small farms with hilly terrain.
Among its advantages are that it gently tills the soil, “so you don’t cut worms in half or bring up weed seeds from down below,” Future Forward Foundation Executive Director Lina Austin said.
The foundation, also known as 3F, bought the tractor with the help of contributions from Western Emulsions of Coolidge, Western’s parent company Idaho Asphalt Supply, ISA Foundation and Arizona Water Company.
3F, known in recent years for helping dozens of people plant backyard gardens all over Pinal County, is now more focused on larger high-volume gardens. The foundation welcomes more volunteers, especially retired farmers who’d like to try out the two-wheel tractor.
The nonprofit’s mission is to reduce poverty, improve the standard of living and promote a better community in Pinal County. Visit futureforwardfoundation.com.
