APACHE JUNCTION - The Prospectors earned another shutout, this time winning 42-0 against El Mirage Dysart.
Apache Junction is now carrying a four-game win streak and look to extend it as they will travel to Phoenix Cortez next week. Their record now stands at 5-2, and 2-0 in region play.
The Prospectors' defense had another big night as they had two interceptions returned for touchdowns.
Zachary Langenbach had two interceptions and Cody Arbogast added a couple of sacks to keep the Demons from driving the ball.
"The only time they drove the ball on us was in the second half," said Apache Junction coach Vance Miller. "We were already up 42-0 at halftime, so we had a running clock and we played a lot of the younger guys."
According to Miller, Dysart managed to get the ball to the 1-yard line with under two minutes left in the game only to be stopped by Apache Junction's defense.
Jordan Morris got the offense going with the first touchdown of the game and Cameron Garcia also had some touchdown receptions from Gibson Limongello.
"The offense was firing on all cylinders and the defense was firing on all cylinders," Miller said. "It was probably one of the most complete games they've played the entire time."
Miller added that these last few games have been a great opportunity to give his team some rest before heading into the final two contests of the regular season.
"We were able to just pull off the starters and the older guys," he said. "Although we're getting healthy everybody still has bumps and bruises, and it was just an easy way to get them off the field and keep them moving forward. The kids understand that there's a bigger picture than just what's going on right now. Nobody likes to be pulled out of the game, but the approach we take with them about staying healthy and looking at the next game. They get it and they're excited to have the younger guys go in and finish the games for them."
