APACHE JUNCTION — A San Tan Valley man is facing charges after he allegedly scuffled with deputies who were trying to remove his wife from a verbal dispute.

According to Pinal County Superior Court records, Michael Myers, 49, is charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and criminal damage.

At 7:31 p.m. on Oct. 23, deputies responded to a disorderly conduct call in the 48700 block of North Ironwood Drive. When deputies arrived they spotted a woman allegedly screaming and waving her hands in the air at the person who had made the call to law enforcement.

As deputies pulled the woman away from the caller, she allegedly began to pull away from the deputies.

A man, later identified as Myers, who was allegedly “walking quickly” toward deputies started yelling at them not to touch his wife. Myers then allegedly lunged at the deputy holding the woman and grabbed at the deputy’s arms while continuing to yell at them.

The deputy took Myers to the ground, where Myers allegedly continued to struggle to get back up until he was handcuffed.

The person who called the sheriff’s office and a security guard told deputies that Myers was allegedly upset about the length of the security line at the location and had hit the front driver’s side panel of the caller’s truck above the wheel, leaving a dent and a 4-inch scratch.

Myers was taken into custody and booked into the county jail.
