FLORENCE — A San Tan Valley man is in custody after a brief flight and struggle with Pinal County Sheriff’s deputies Wednesday.

Jacob Lopez, 19, was arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest, drive-by shooting, discharge of a firearm at a nonresidence and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.

Lopez had a felony warrant for his arrest related to his alleged involvement in a San Tan Valley drive-by shooting last year, said PCSO spokesman Sam Salzwedel.

Deputies located Lopez in the San Tan Heights neighborhood Wednesday afternoon, Salzwedel said. He allegedly fled on foot from deputies through several properties in the neighborhood before deputies caught up with him, and a brief struggle ensued before he was taken into custody and transported to the Pinal County Jail.
