CASA GRANDE — First Presbyterian Church of Casa Grande will begin holding live services on its campus beginning Sunday with a 9 a.m. service in the sanctuary and another at 10:30 a.m. in the Family Life Center.
Social distancing will be observed at both service times with congregation members seated at least 6 feet apart if they do not live in the same home.
Other COVID-safe precautions put in place include no distribution of bulletins, no “Passing of the Peace,” no singing; no refreshments, and a requirement for those in attendance to wear facial coverings.
“We studied the issue of singing quite a bit, and we came to the conclusion that the best science indicates it is not advisable, yet, even with masks,” said the Rev. Paul Elgin, church pastor.
The sanctuary will accommodate up to 50 attendees at one time. About 80 people may be accommodated in the Family Life Center.
“We’re asking people to RSVP at the church office to make sure we have enough seating to accommodate everyone,” Elgin said.
The church office can be contacted at 520-836-5981. First Presbyterian is at 702 E. Cottonwood Lane.
