CASA GRANDE — While some area churches have canceled their Vacation Bible School events for this summer, Montlure Camp, held each year by First Presbyterian Church of Casa Grande, will be offered online.
Montlure Camp is an Arizona-based ministry that aims to help young people grow in faith with its Christian camping experience.
It hosts overnight and day camps each summer hosted by Montlure staffers.
Each summer for the past few years, First Presbyterian Church has hosted Montlure’s week-long day camp program at the church.
The online camp this year is June 7-11 for kids entering grades seven through 12 and June 14-18 for students in grades one to six.
The theme of this year’s virtual camp is “Camp Reimagined.”
Campers will receive a schedule of activities and virtual events prior to camp.
Each day of camp, online activities and self-guided offline activities will be available. Some activities will also be geared toward inter-generational opportunities for the whole family, the Montlure website says.
Campers will receive a unique username and password to log in to a virtual camp site at montlure.virtual-camp.org as well as for additional small group check-ins. Campers will receive a T-shirt, water bottle and various program materials and resources needed for the whole week, the website says.
“Our summer staff has been working incredibly hard to re-imagine and develop a program that aligns with the mission and value of Montlure, while also utilizing tools and resources in ways we’ve never imagined,” the website says.
Workshops following virtual camp weeks will allow campers and staff to come together through shared interests.
