Quilting Angels

Pinal County Attorney Kent Volkmer and staff thank San Tan Valley’s Quilting Angels Dec. 21 at an appreciation luncheon at the Pinal County Family Advocacy Center. Standing at the back from left are quilter Melba Fernandez, center staff member Melissa Taylor, Volkmer and Center Manager Tascha Spears. Pictured at front are quilters Nita Brock, Heidi Wunderlich and Lupe Quintard, and center staff Stephanie Stewart and Melissa Alcala.

The Quilting Angels, who number 8-15 depending on the season of the year, work out of Mountain View Church, making quilts, blankets, pillow cases and other items for children at the Family Advocacy Center, child cancer patients, hospice patients and wherever there's a need. They also teach quilting to 4th graders at the nearby Leading Edge Academy.
