Nothing about the overused Colorado River is easy, but a plan to save water over the next three years sounds mostly positive. The federal government has been urging Southwestern states to come up with a way to reduce the demand on Lake Mead and Lake Powell, and now the feds have proposed a reduction in use of as much as 3 million acre-feet over the next three years. Arizona has not signed on yet, but the idea offers promise.
