Editor, Casa Grande Dispatch:

The youth vote may well determine the outcome of the 2020 elections. And there are several issues that may draw young people to the polls: gun violence, climate change, the high cost of college and the threat of war. While historically young voters have not made a strong showing in elections, 2020 may see them voting in record numbers.

Many young people are acutely aware of how these issues directly threaten their futures, and Donald Trump is not on solid footing in any of these areas. Democratic candidates at all levels are proposing ways to address the threats of gun violence, climate change, college costs and foreign wars. Let’s hope that young voters see the importance of not only electing a president who will take these threats seriously, but also the urgency of electing a Congress that will empower that president to be successful.
