Editor, Casa Grande Dispatch:
With all due respect to Mr. Roberts (column Dec. 14), he seems to have misrepresented some of the facts on the Trump administration changes for food stamps.
The USDA recently finalized a SNAP proposal stating that those who are able-bodied, between the ages of 18 and 49 and without children or dependents who receive food stamps for more than three months in a 36-month period must work, go to school, receive job training or volunteer in order to receive benefits.
So, no he isn't kicking any poor families off of food stamps. In fact, since he took office and improved the economy, unemployment is at a 50-year low. In fact, according to USDA, nearly 6 million people have been able to stop using food stamps in the last two years, saving the administration roughly $15 billion.
