Editor, Casa Grande Dispatch:

William Barr, the attorney general for of the U.S., said, "But the Bill of Rights doesn't go away during a crisis like this," when asked about the restrictions placed on Americans during this COVID-19 infection. Yet some of these politicos think that they have blanket authority to arrest and even imprison people just because they don't strictly follow what the politicos said! Gov. Newsom in California ordered beaches closed and threatened to arrest anyone defying his "order." The mayor of Los Angeles, Eric Garcetti, said you can go to the beach but you must touch only wet sand, not dry! Gov. Whitmer of Michigan ordered a 77-year-old barber to shut his business and when he refused, she canceled his state license! There are lots more violations of the norm. What do these power mad individuals have in common? They're all Democrats.

Now certainly the government has a right to impose certain reasonable and temporary restrictions during a health crisis but these petty dictators have gone beyond those parameters to the point that people are being threatened unless they obey whatever decisions are dreamed up. They have been corrupted with power, not to help but to control, like a human controls his stock on a farm.

Back in 1776, we had enough of being ordered around by some "king" that treated us like cattle. Once we won the war, we set about formulating laws that guaranteed our rights. Some of those rights were the right to assemble, the right to speak out, the right to worship as we wished, the right to freedom, almost unrestricted. Remember these power-mad dictators and their minions when November comes around! This ordering us around like cattle has got to stop.
