Editor, Casa Grande Dispatch:
Good Samaritans are living among us! With all of the negative that we are living with in our world, we were thrilled to have a good Samaritan come to our aid this week.
My husband, son, a friend of ours and I took off for the desert for a day of exploring in the sun. About 45 minutes into the trip, our friend’s machine sheared a bolt. The passenger’s-side tire folded in, making it undrivable. Our son and friend took off in our machine for Florence, then to travel to Apache Junction for new bolts.
A man appeared on the road and stopped to see if he could help. As it turned out, he had owned a Polaris side-by-side with the same problem. He had sheared off a bolt on three different occasions. He had to get his machine running and back to town using his own ingenuity. He looked our tool packets over and found a Phillips short screwdriver, electric tape and four zip ties.
In a MacGyver-like fashion, he fixed the machine so that we could limp back to Florence. He also led us back, ensuring our safe passage back to Florence.
His name is Ryan Meyer, and his dad lives just east of Florence. If you happen to see him, thank him for going out of his way to help four desperate desert travelers!
