Editor, Casa Grande Dispatch:
It is now the end of a very strange school year. I would like to give a huge shout-out to all teachers — you are also heroes. I was a teacher for 44 years and loved every minute of it. The reason I loved it was because every day I was able to be with my students. We learned and challenged each other. We did activities that supported our lessons. We celebrated the importance of learning and thinking. I believe the main reason we become teachers is our love of learning and the daily contact with our students.
So now for the last nine weeks teachers had to attend meetings, write lesson plans, communicate and teach online without the students in their classroom. All the work with the most important thing missing — students. No follow-up, no closure, no real goodbyes. Thank you for all you have done in these difficult times!
Education is one of the foundations of the success of our country. All of us need to come together to support our teachers, students and parents in this uncertain time.
