Editor, Casa Grande Dispatch:

We are so tired of reading yet another article about some elected official handling the coronavirus badly, that somebody has to be blamed for the virus, that a vaccine isn't being found fast enough. Like it or not, the coronavirus is here like the polio virus was, the Spanish Flu of 1918 was, like smallpox was. Those of the past got handled, though it wasn't "fast" like on TV. The first polio virus vaccine came along about 60 years after the illness manifested itself.

Our reality is that the coronavirus is here. Work is being done but it may take years to beat it. We do have means to help. One is as simple as wearing a mask. It's small, but it is a start. It shouldn't have to be decreed by any political figure or policed by any level of law enforcement. Just help. Wear a mask in public areas and in businesses that really do have to be open for economic reasons, not to mention for our convenience.

Take responsibility for yourself. Heaven forbid, where would we be if we all waited for some politician to tell us to put on a coat when it's cold?
