Thank you for giving me the opportunity to respond to the Murray Siegel’s article on Aug. 13.
First of all, when the Second Amendment went into effect they weren’t thinking about AK-47s, AR-15s or weapons of mass destruction. I have seen what an AK-47 can do from the business end. I spent a year in Vietnam. If anybody is hoping to get some real gun control from Congress, don’t hold your breath.
Most if not all of the GOP members are receiving donations to their campaign from the NRA somewhere in the amount of $1-2 million a year. You know, they don’t want to bite the hand that feeds them.
The GOP is putting their pocketbook before your life. Any gun control law that comes out of Congress will only hurt the honest gun owner. I heard that the guns used in the mass shootings were legally purchased. If there had been background checks, it might have helped, but maybe not.
There will be another mass shooting in the future. I hope not, but Congress will still be sitting there with their thumbs up their you-know-what.
If Trump would stop making his racial remarks in rallies we probably wouldn’t have had this happen in the first place. I wonder why Trump is going along with the Majority Leader on Congress to wait until September.
Does Trump think this is not an important issue? How many people have to be slaughtered before some action is done about gun control?
