Editor:

This is to apologize to the City of Maricopa and to Judge Lyle for my having missed jury service on June 6, 2019. I am a law-abiding American citizen but had to miss this jury date because the month of June is the special month when I get to spend a couple of weeks with my grandkids in NY (Long Island).

I was there when they were born (twins) and I would spend a month with them on their birthdays but now they are of school age (5.5 years), I have to be there for them when their school ends — drive them to school, pick them up, take them for lunch at Burger King, Costco, or Amalfi (italian restau close to their home).

This year 2019 was special because they graduated (kindergarten) on June 12, and the girl had her ballet recital on June 9. These dates made me miss the June 6 jury service. I do apologize for missing my civic duty. I understand how difficult it must be for Judge Lyle Riggs to perform his job for the city’s safety.

I have lived in our beautiful city since 2007 and I have nothing but beautiful stories to tell the grandkids about the city of Maricopa — they are in awe when I tell them about the mountains around us and the clear vast blue skies in our city! They will visit me during their spring break and they cant wait to see “Arizonia” (they know California because of Disneyland) and show them the beautiful city of Maricopa, Arizona — the nice playgrounds in Copper Sky and the Pacana Park, eat at IHOP, Denny’s, Burger King, Freddie’s, Wingstop, Tacos (real good ones), Culver’s, shop for toys at 99c, Dollar stores, Ross and Walmart!
