Editor, Casa Grande Dispatch:
Our Casa Grande community is to be commended for the outstanding efforts in helping us with donated food and financial aid for Thanksgiving this year. During this unprecedented year, when we had to pivot and change the way we normally do things, we were still able to provide a Thanksgiving Day meal to many more than we usually do because of several churches, local groups and individuals who gave.
Our core annual Thanksgiving Day lunch planning partners (Salvation Army, St. Vincent de Paul Society, Seeds of Hope) thought it was especially important to continue our traditional Thanksgiving lunch in spite of the pandemic. Many people in our community depend upon it as their only meal that day. Because of the generosity of our community, this year we delivered 80 meals to the homebound and packed 245 meals for grab and go pickup at the Elks Lodge.
Our supporting partners (Vista Grande Culinary, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Elks Lodge) as well as all of the volunteers that helped on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday made this such a special experience.
When so many things have been out of our control this year, our 2020 motto has been "Choose Kindness," because no act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted. This Thanksgiving was a perfect example of that. If you were involved in any way, thank you.
