Editor, Casa Grande Dispatch:

We all know these are troubled times. No one needs to look very far to find bad news. If it's not the pandemic, it's about our law enforcement officers using excessive force. It's protests, riots and the desire to see true change occur in the methods used to police our streets. With all of this going on, it's difficult to understand why the politicians are using negative ads to advance their platforms. I personally feel irritation and aggravation when attack ads are used.

We need positive, useful information about what the candidates plan to accomplish if elected to the office. Evidently it is easier to tear the other candidate down than to build yourself up. In this time of change, as a nation, wouldn't we all be better served if everyone focused more on the positive and less on negativity? We owe gratitude to our first responders, all of them. We cannot lose sight of all the good they do.

Peaceful demonstration is a positive method of achieving the goals of change. It would be productive if change came from the top down. It's time to focus on positive and effective action. One should bear that in mind when at the polls this year.
