Editor, Casa Grande Dispatch:
I read in the Dispatch where our mayor again mentioned the PhoenixMart development on the east side of town. I personally don’t ever see this becoming a reality as intended by the present developers.
Because of my feelings and those of many other citizens that this will never open as intended, I have a suggestion for the use of this very large property, which I understand consists of approximately 500 acres.
Because Arizona is and has been growing in population, what a wonderful location for a fourth state university, just think of calling it “CGU” (Casa Grande University). The present building would make a wonderful administration complex and with the remaining acreage there would be enough space not only for instruction/class buildings but dormitories and others.
Another thought would be for CAC to move there and become a full-fledged university and the present campus could become a third high school based on the comments made by our mayor of what he foresees for the further growth of Casa Grande.
