Editor, Casa Grande Dispatch:

Born and raised in Florence and looking around, the growth is astonishing. Houses, houses everywhere. Now we have a new high school going up across from the hospital. It's great to see the growth. But, growth brings crime, fires, traffic and traffic issues. My concern is: Is the Florence Town Council and mayor taking into consideration that with more people living in our town limits, the need for recruiting and retaining first responders should be high on their "to do" list.

Other towns and cities are offering sign-on bonuses to recruit new police officers and giving them raises to retain them. This is a wise practice that should be imitated in our town.

Please, mayor and council, take notice of our first responders. I would much rather pay taxes for first responders than a silly new town logo that means nothing.

Quality public service comes at a cost - “you get what you pay for”! Higher wages and benefit packages will attract those higher quality employees! I agree with the writer that higher taxes are worthwhile when properly spent.
