Editor, Casa Grande Dispatch:

I am very concerned about the recent proposal being considered by the Arizona Legislature. Decriminalizing speeding would have disastrous effects on insurance premiums. With hundreds of idiotic motorists driving like they are on the Autobahn while those of us with brains are doing our best to prevent accidents, the results are guaranteed to be hundreds of additional accidents.

Of course, the insurance companies will reject the claims because the speeders were not obeying the posted speed limits, negating their insurance. Who pays when I'm hit by an uninsured? My insurance along with my deductible. Naturally, my premiums go up and as the numbers of such accidents increase, so do all the premiums. Then there are the problems of personal injuries and the civil suits against the speeders and their insurance companies. Do you really believe the insurance companies are going to reduce a premium based on good driving when the Legislature is encouraging everyone to "put the pedal to the metal"?

The only winners to the proposal are insurance execs and lawyers. Additional losers are the taxpayers and employees as health care launches to the moon.
