Editor, Casa Grande Dispatch:

Dear Congress: I don't want your thoughts and prayers. I want you to do your jobs. Yes, I understand the gun lobby has paid you a great deal of money. But we, the voters, have elected you and your job is to represent us, not the lobbyists. So, get off your collective duffs and ban assault rifles, the accessories that make them automatic and clips that allow a shooter to kill 20 people without reloading.

I know that criminals will still have channels to get these weapons. However, the seriously disturbed people who commit these atrocities will not. I know about the Second Amendment. The Founding Fathers never could have conceived of these weapons. They wanted citizens to be able to form a militia. Confine these weapons to the military —where they have always belonged.
