Editor, Casa Grande Dispatch:
I noticed that City Councilwoman Donna McBride recently canceled her campaign kickoff in order to avoid spreading the coronavirus. Obviously, that was not in her best interest politically. However, it was in the best interest of the community. I listened carefully to Mayor McFarland’s declaration of emergency due to the coronavirus. I look at the people sitting on the City Council, most of whom I have known my entire life. Never have I been so thankful for quality city leadership.
These are difficult times, and with difficult times, difficult decisions must be made. I see our city leadership dutifully weighing each and every decision, many of which balance the business needs of our community with our health needs. These are the tough decisions. I can tell our city leadership works hard to make the right decisions. I salute Donna McBride for her decision on her campaign kickoff. I am pleased, but I am not surprised. I have come to expect our city leaders to put their community ahead of their self-interest.
Never have I been so thankful for the people we have leading our city. They have earned my trust. I appreciate them, and I salute them all.
