Editor, Casa Grande Dispatch:

With the growing national concerns over the reemergence of infectious diseases such as mumps and measles, has our state Legislature done anything to protect the public? Answer: No!

With the nearly weekly headlines screaming about the horrors of another school shooting, has our state Legislature done anything to keep guns out of schools? Answer: No!

LD11 GOP state legislators V. Leach (Senate) and M. Finchem (House) have shown no interest in doing anything about these issues; instead their focus is squarely on shutting up voters. Leach is leading the charge to make the constitutionally guaranteed ballot initiative process an impossible task. Finchem is hell bent on pushing a “code of ethics” that is an obvious assault on teachers for having made their case for a pay raise to the public.

When legislators become nothing more than pawns for lobbyists, they stop representing the best interests of their constituents. When legislators become ideological rather than pragmatists working for solutions, the public suffers. LD11 is represented by such men.

I urge voters to become involved and aware. I urge voters to dig into the real consequences of elections. Arizona voters must demand real action and solutions to real problems from our legislators!
