Editor, Casa Grande Dispatch:
I have read your book "Casa Grande: A Century of Progress," which I enjoyed very much. However, you mention that Dee Tate put the first car wash in Casa Grande, which is incorrect. My husband Gilbert Goettsch and my brother-in-law Wayne Chickering put Thrifty Car Wash on Pinal Avenue, I think perhaps in 1965. Both of these men are deceased. I'm very sure that Tate's car wash was put in a little later. The Dispatch published a big grand opening page with a picture of KiKi Guinn celebrating the opening of Thrifty.
Also, Three G's Flowers has been in business in Casa Grande for 58 years, first located at 414 W. McMurray Blvd. and now at 200 E. Florence Blvd.
I'm sure sorry the Dispatch has cut down on the days of publication. It is a real disappointment.
