Editor, Casa Grande Dispatch:

The Dispatch just reported that hate crimes are up. (Nov. 17). I don’t remember, before 2016, Americans plotting to kidnap a governor, demonstrating and threatening Arizonans in charge of elections, marching through Charlottesville with tiki torches or taking long guns to our legislatures. All of this hate and division has come to America since Donald Trump. I guess all of us had the relative that we avoided at the holidays, but this year, families are divided, with Donald Trump at every holiday table and every Zoom meeting. Many of us thought that the lies, the hate spewing, the danger, would stop with this election, declared safe and secure by Trump’s own cybersecurity chief, but instead America is being humiliated by the spoiled child in the White House who won’t accept the results of an election. All of the world, friend and foe, are watching. Vladimir Putin, who gleefully watched his efforts succeed in the 2016 election, is again toasting the continued success of his efforts as even in defeat, Trump spews massive disinformation and “alternative facts” undermining America’s democracy.

Our President-elect Joe Biden has clearly stated that he is going to be a president for all of America. He has won this election with more votes than the current president garnered in 2016. I think everyone in America is exhausted from COVID and the division and chaos that Trump has injected into every family, every day and every life. If we are to be united again, we are all going to have to work at it. We are all going to have to spend some time verifying our "truths." Please remember that Democrats love the Constitution, democracy, the flag and law and order, and to say they don’t is just another lie meant to divide us.
