CASA GRANDE — Wayne Ray Young, 67, died on May 7, 2020.
Mr. Young was born on March 12, 1953, to Erma and Matthew Young Sr. at Hoemako Hospital in Casa Grande, the eldest of four children. He attended East Elementary (now Palo Verde) School and graduated from Casa Grande Union High in 1972. People said he was “cut from a different cloth," and he often was praised for his sense of style. He was named Homecoming King during his senior year. He worked at the ASARCO mine with his father and was blessed with a baby girl.
He later continued his work ethic at Abbott Nutrition, where he worked for well over 20 years until he retired. People knew he was a “Ray” of sunshine who always left them with a big smile. He enjoyed a number of things such as cooking, home interior/exterior design, decorating, restorations, anything related to arts and crafts, shopping and spending time with his beloved family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, DeAnn; and brother, Claudell. He is survived by his only daughter, Aneshia Watson of Phoenix; his baby brother, Matthew Young Jr. of Casa Grande; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 23, at Fountains of Living Water Church. Wearing of face masks requested.
