AK-CHIN — Stella White, 65, died peacefully at her home in Ak-Chin on Jan. 9, 2020, with family and friends by her side.
Mrs. White was an employee of the Gila River Health Care Dental Department for the past 35 years. She made many friends there who would become just like family to her. Friends would come by just to see her bright, smiling face. She reminded friends and family of dental appointments and told the kids, "Always brush your teeth." She loved to dance and attended as many chicken scratch dances as she could around the community. She loved listening to all genres of music as well as going for long cruises with loved ones.
She was devoted to her family and played the role of "Momma Stella" to many. She taught her children to love, respect, be gracious and always be there for others, among other traits.
She is survived by four adult children, Della DeLowe, Mariana White, Lee White and Sonja White; six siblings, Molly Norris, Kupe Kaniatobe, Elena Norris, Vivian Lewis, Sally Antone and Cecelia Norris; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James, whom she married on Sept. 15, 1983; her parents, Juan and Juanita Norris; two brothers, Nathanial and Fredrick Norris; and two grandchildren, Luis and Mercedes Garcia.
