CASA GRANDE — Socorro Vanegas, 76, died peacefully at home in Casa Grande on Aug. 29, 2021, surrounded by her family after battling Alzheimer's disease for nearly 4 1/2 years.
Ms. Vanegas was born in Mexico, a daughter of Amparo and Julio Guillen, and became a citizen of the United States, residing in Arizona for the past 30 years. She was devoted to her family and friends and always willing to help others in need. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends at gatherings.
She worked hard as a migrant agricultural worker for much of her life. She was known for her skills in dancing, cooking and as a spiritual healer.
Survivors include three sons, including Raul Ponce of Casa Grande; a daughter, Sandra Guillen of Mexico; two sisters; two brothers, 14 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, two sisters and two brothers.
