CASA GRANDE — Gail Richard Akin, 78, died peacefully at his Casa Grande home on Aug. 26, 2021.
Mr. Akin was born on Nov. 9, 1942, and was a son of Flossie and Embert. He had a passion for history and was known for his quick wit, infectious smile and kind, compassionate spirit.
He was admired by family and friends for his patient, gentle nature. He was congenial and easy-going and an avid outdoorsman who loved Arizona. Every road, rock and stream was a new adventure for him. He was a soils engineer during his working career.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon; a brother, Norman; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph, George and Carl, and two sisters, Marcella and June.
Funeral at 11 a.m. on Sept. 16 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 220 E. Cullumber Ave. in Gilbert.
