SACATON — Paula Frances Rhodes, 59, of Sacaton died on Nov. 29, 2020, in Chandler.
Ms. Rhodes was born on June 5, 1961, in Florence to Angelita Thompson of Parker and Francis Gordon Vavages of Sacaton. She attended First Presbyterian Church of Sacaton and practiced in the traditional O’odham ways. She was a longtime employee of Gila River Indian Community, serving in several departments.
She made many friends in her life and had a laugh that was recognizable anywhere! She enjoyed traveling to rodeos and ropings, attending her grandkids' sporting events and helping her family when she could. She loved her classic country music.
She is survived by three adult children, Dugan F. Rhodes, Justin H. Rhodes and Amy N. Rhodes, and their father, Wesley Rhodes, of Sacaton; her mother; two sisters, Edith Vavages of Sacaton and Laurie Crozier of Peach Springs; two brothers, Shawn Thompson of Parker and Gordon Vavages of Gresham, Oregon; and 10 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her youngest son, James W. Rhodes; a brother, Eugene Thompson; and her father.
