COOLIDGE — Patricia "Patty" Padberg, 70, died on Aug. 19, 2019.
Ms. Padberg was born on June 18, 1949, in Freeport, Illinois, but moved to Arizona with her family at the suggestion of her physicians. At 3 months of age, she contracted spinal meningitis, which left her developmentally disabled. Her mother, Maxine Padberg, committed her entire life to the disabled community and making sure her daughter had a productive and fruitful life.
She moved to the Arizona Training Program at Coolidge at age 22. She lived and worked on campus for decades and had many friends and co-workers who loved and adored her. She was sweet and sassy with a great sense of humor and a love of all things Lawrence Welk and Elvis. The things that made her most happy were balloons, rolls of quarters, Hershey's Kisses and her washcloths that she named “baby." She touched many lives and left an indelible impact on the staff and her family.
She is survived by a sister, Vickie Wendt; three nephews; and a niece.
Service at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31, at Heritage Coolidge Funeral Chapel. Burial in Valley of the Sun Cemetery, 10940 E. Chandler Heights Road in Chandler.
