MARICOPA — Ofelia M. Balderrama, 74, of Maricopa died on June 24, 2021, at home.
Ms. Balderrama was born on May 8, 1947, in Nayarit, Mexico, to Trinidad Balderrama and Guadalupe Mayorquin. She was a hardworking single mother who always looked out for her girls and grandchildren.
She started a nursing career at a young age in New Mexico and also worked for Wrangler & Shaw Industries, formerly known as Queen Carpet, in Yuma. She helped anyone in need and never expected anything in return. She loved seafood and drinking Coke. Her dancing was described as unique, and she loved music and beer. Even through her memory loss, she was always proud of her girls.
She is survived by three daughters, Elisabett Balderrama and Mayra Balderrama Casillas of Maricopa and Valerie Romero of Yuma, and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Maria Isabel Balderrama.
Services at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church beginning at noon on Friday, July 2.
