ELOY — Mary "Molly" Gonzales, 69, of Eloy died on Aug. 20, 2021, surrounded by her family.
Ms. Gonzales was born on June 24, 1952, to Gilbert and Romelia (Garcia) Gonzales in Casa Grande. She later had a stepfather, Pablo Avilez. She was known for the love and care she poured on her family and friends. But they said she always would get in the last word during any debate, even if she was wrong.
She treasured the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. Her favorite casino was Harrah’s Ak-Chin, playing Blazing 7s and the quarter machine. She loved cooking and making pies and had a green thumb. She also enjoyed visiting family, eating at Eva’s restaurant and going to the movies. She always had an extra room for her sister to stay in.
Survivors include three daughters, Virginia Lopez, Shirley Legate and Melissa Legate; six siblings, Eva Gagnon, Sylvia De La Cerda, Juanita Avilez, Angie Rodriguez, Paul Avilez and David Avilez; and 11 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Ruben Telles, and a brother, Gilbert Gonzales.
Visitation beginning at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 8, at Heritage Casa Grande Funeral Home. Rosary and Mass at St. Helen of the Cross Catholic Church in Eloy beginning at 11. Burial in Eloy Memorial Park.
