GEORGETOWN, S.C. — Mary Rachel Otteson, 75, lovingly known to her family as "Butch," died on June 24, 2019, at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Ms. Otteson was born on March 26, 1944, in Cloquet, Minnesota, a daughter of John M. and Madeline L.E. Wait Martindale. She was a member of Trinity Southern Baptist Church and The Round Table Auxiliary in Casa Grande and served as a community outreach advocate for the Casa Grande Police Department Volunteer Services and Senior Phone Patrol.
She was an animal lover, horticulturist and an avid explorer who savored the outdoors and traveling. She adored crocheting, collecting, sewing and making bunny dolls, blankets, aprons and any other craft she could imagine. She was devoted to her family and friends.
She is survived by four adult children, Wendella L. Rubesh, Teresa M. Avis, Scott A. Rubesh and Jenell L. Ornelas; a brother, Melvin M. Martindale; two sisters, May L. Messner and Muriel B. Reynolds; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Joseph L., and two brothers, Murnice F. and Morris J. Martindale.
