Marlene Augustine

PISINEMO VILLAGE — Marlene Alvira Augustine, 43, of Pisinemo died at home on Sept. 1, 2019.

Ms. Augustine was born on Feb. 20, 1976, in Tucson to Ralph and Antonia (Carrillo) Augustine. She was devoted to her family and was always there for them.

She was a really good cook, and her family loved her tortillas. She always had a smile and laughed.

Survivors include four sons and daughters, Cyrus and Tamera Valenzuela, Derick and Faye Augustine; a sister, Anita Alexander; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Frank Augustine.

Funeral Mass celebrated at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 10, at the family home, with a wake following. Burial at sunrise on Wednesday, Sept. 11, in Pisinemo Cemetery.

Robert Buckner

ELOY — Robert W. Buckner, 59, of Eloy died on Aug. 28, 2019.

Mr. Buckner spent most of his life in Casa Grande and graduated from Casa Grande Union High School. He proudly served in the Air Force and worked for Northern Arizona University as a supervisor in Fire Life Safety and Building Access Services and also was a licensed locksmith.

An avid San Francisco 49ers fan, he often said “and on the eighth day God created the 49ers.” He had a special sense of humor, was a man of faith and touched the hearts of many. He was instrumental in bringing the Awana Christian training program to Heritage Free Will Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, RB and Minnie Buckner; a brother, Richard Buckner; and a stepdaughter, Jasmine Arvizu. Survivors include his beloved wife, Connie; seven sons and daughters, Jacob Buckner of Chandler, Kursty Wade of Maricopa, Rhema Thomas of Indiana, Joshua Buckner of Minnesota, Michael Ward of Florida, Jessica Carman of Long Island, New York, and Ronald Mitchell of Tucson; a sister, Linda Irvin of Spokane, Washington; and 16 grandchildren.

Memorial service at 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 27 at Calvary Chapel in Casa Grande, with reception following, catered by Ochoa’s Restaurant.

Ted Turbenson

CASA GRANDE — Theodore Emil “Ted” Turbenson, 68, of Casa Grande died on Sept. 7, 2019.

Mr. Turbenson was born on May 12, 1951, and was a son of Hiram and Opal Turbenson. He worked for Radiation Protection Products of Minnesota for 40 years. He was devoted to his family and enjoyed playing golf and watching sports.

Survivors include his wife, Jane, and two sons, Tyler and Mitchell.

Lorin Wilcox

CASA GRANDE — Lorin Roy Wilcox, 82, of Casa Grande died on Sept. 5, 2019, at Banner Casa Grande Medical Center.

Mr. Wilcox was born on May 9, 1937, in Napa Valley, California, and was a son of Lorin Elmo and Mary (Gridley) Wilcox. He served in the Navy and later worked in construction as a master carpenter.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a Boy Scout leader, especially with the Webelos group. He served Scouting for 40 years and received its top service award, the Silver Beaver.

Survivors include his wife, Kinga; a son, Randy Wilcox; a daughter, Raine Wilcox; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rita Sue.

Graveside service at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11, at Mesa City Cemetery. Memorial service following at 2 p.m. at the LDS Trekell Building in Casa Grande.
