FLORENCE — Madison Gracie "Maddi" Butler, 17, died on the morning of June 9, 2022, at her home in Florence.

Ms. Butler was born on Dec. 7, 2004, in Billings, Montana. She was a ray of sunshine. In fact, she absolutely loved to watch the sunset. She spent her life exploring, taking pictures, painting, going to the lake, paddleboarding, being outside, spending time with her family and friends, listening to her music and always caring for her youngest sister, Sam. She loved sports and played soccer, basketball and volleyball. She had just finished her junior year at Florence High School and was excited to start her senior year.

While she was still undecided about what she was going to do after graduation, she had planned to spend some time in Montana with her grandfather and then come home to Arizona to pursue career opportunities in art so she could continue to put her beautiful visions onto canvas. She had also considered a career where she could work with children because she loved that as well.

She is survived by her mother, Jennifer; her father, Michael; her stepfather, Randy; her brother, Trace; her sister, Samantha; her stepsister, Melanie; her grandfathers, Bruce and Gary; and her grandmother, Vivian.

Celebration of life at 4 p.m. on Friday, June 17, at Florence High School in the gymnasium.

Heritage Florence Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.
