ELOY — Lillie Cornwell, 81, a longtime Eloy resident, died on Aug. 30, 2021.
Mrs. Cornwell was born on Sept. 30, 1939, in Bebe, Texas, to Moritz A. and Hazel Brinkley Schindler. She came to Arizona in 1951 and graduated from Coolidge High School in 1957. She met her future husband, Clinton Cornwell, at the Coolidge roller rink in 1958, and they were married on Nov. 7, 1959.
They moved to Eloy in 1960. She enjoyed cooking and having dinners for her family and friends. She loved the Lord and was a member of First Southern Baptist Church of Eloy.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters and a son, Neva Gorham of Casa Grande, Laura Allen of Eloy and Clinton "Joe" Cornwell of Arizona City; three siblings, Ed Schindler of Arlington, Washington, Clara Jackson of Oklahoma City and Ruth Moran of Eloy; and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Bob Schindler; a sister, Frances Coffey; three half-brothers, Herman, Louis and Henry Schindler; and two half-sisters, Lela Shinault and Ann Kawalek.
Visitation from noon to 1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 3, at J. Warren Funeral Services, Valley Chapel. Graveside service at 1:30 in Eloy Memorial Park.
