COOLIDGE — Kimerlee "Kim" (Overton) Johnson, 72, died on Sept. 3, 2021, at her home in Coolidge, surrounded by her loving family, after a short and intense battle with cancer.
Born on May 4, 1949, in Phoenix and a daughter of Doreen and Donald Overton Sr., Mrs. Johnson graduated from Coronado High School in Scottsdale. While in high school, she was a member of the Coronado Donnette Dance Team and several service groups. Later at Arizona State University, she participated on the gymnastics and swim teams. She received her undergraduate degree in business from the University of Phoenix and a master’s degree in educational counseling from Northern Arizona University.
She met the love of her life, Boyd T. Johnson, and quickly got married on Oct. 19, 1968. They later moved to Coolidge to raise their family, and she began her life of service to the community. She served as a Coolidge City Council member and vice mayor. She retired as director of court services for the Pinal County Superior Court and returned to service as a judicial assistant for Superior Court Judge Robert Carter Olson.
She was extremely active in the Coolidge community, serving on various boards and programs, including the American Legion Post 54 Auxiliary, Coolidge Scholarships, at the Masonic Lodge, at Coolidge-Florence Elks Lodge, at the Lions Club, PEO, the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Descendants of the Signers of the Declaration of Independence, among others. She loved her family, service and the community.
She is survived by her husband; two daughters and a son, Kristie (Johnson) Wooley, Boyd Richard Johnson and Karen (Johnson) Stillwell; two brothers, Timothy and Donald Overton Jr.; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Gregory.
Visitation beginning at 9 a.m. on Sept. 25 at Heritage Coolidge Funeral Chapel, with celebration of life at 10 and reception following immediately at American Legion Post 54.
