CASA GRANDE — Julie Kay (Ramsey) Douglas, 74, of Casa Grande died on March 25, 2021, in Chandler.
Mrs. Douglas was born on July 19, 1946, in Salina, Kansas. She graduated from Kansas State University in 1968 and then taught at Schilling Elementary School in Salina. In 1978, she moved to Casa Grande, where she lived for over 40 years. She taught in the Curriculum Enrichment Program throughout the Casa Grande Elementary School District and spearheaded and conducted many fun and interesting field trips for her students. She and her teacher friends took them on trips to the Phoenix Zoo, the Scripps Aquarium in San Diego and other special places.
She loved spending time with her family and friends. She also loved traveling around the country and taking world cruises. Her special pleasure was cooking huge breakfasts for her grandkids. Her and Kenny’s summer home in Pinetop was a favorite getaway.
She and Kenny Douglas celebrated their 36th anniversary on the first day of spring, 2021. Other survivors include three adult children, Christine Willour of Tucson, Kelly Reade of Colebrook, Ontario, Canada, and Kyle Douglas of Destin, Florida, and six grandchildren.
A small family gathering will be held at the home in Casa Grande.
