CASA GRANDE — Jose Luis Sanchez, 90, of Casa Grande and formerly a longtime resident of Marana, died on July 3, 2019.
Mr. Sanchez was a son of Jesus and Emilia Sanchez. He was deeply devoted to his Catholic faith and devoted to his family and community. Throughout his life he touched the hearts of many. He came to Arizona in 1956 to work with the Ronstadt family at Agua Linda and Picacho Peak.
He was an avid boxing and baseball fan and volunteered at St. Christopher Catholic Church in Marana. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Society, Cursillistas and boards of Marana Town Hall, Migrant Opportunity Program and Portable, Practical, Educational Preparation.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Jesus, Manuel and Alfonso Sanchez, and three sisters, Rebeca Valenzuela, Blanca Moreno and Graciela Varela. He is survived by his beloved wife, Dolores; eight sons and daughters, Ramon L. Sanchez of Arizona City, Jose J. Sanchez of Marana, Carlos A. of Fruita, Colorado, Lourdes M. Ortega of Casa Grande, Alfonso Sanchez of Litchfield Park, Maria D. Enciso of Phoenix, Graciela A. Rodarte of Casa Grande and Francisco J. Sanchez of Casa Grande; a sister, Celina Alvarez of Tucson; 25 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
Visitation from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10, at J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel. Funeral Mass celebrated at 9 a.m. on Thursday, July 11, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Casa Grande. Burial in Mountain View Cemetery.
