FLORENCE — Jo Anna Weatherbe, 70, died on April 21, 2021.
Ms. Weatherbe was a daughter of Calvin and Alice Lain. She was a really nice person who never wished anyone ill, smiled incessantly and was always quick to laugh. She was inquisitive and liked to travel. In her younger years, she had a good singing voice. In later years she was a good photographer. Her home was welcoming and immaculate. She appreciated beauty and harmony in nature, photography, music and movies.
She was a uniter, not a divider. She kept her opinions mostly to herself, but she was unfailingly eager to listen to others and help when she could. She became a family touchstone after her parents’ deaths, acting as a “switchboard operator” to keep channels open both between her brothers and sisters and their offspring and other relatives, keeping everyone updated. She was a life member of the Pinal County Historical Society. In February 2018 her home, the Charles W. Tillman House, was included in the Florence Historic Home Tour.
She is survived by four siblings, Dennis M. Lain of California, Thomas E. Lain of Oregon, Kay F. Lain-Nunes of Arizona and Suzanne E. Lain of North Carolina, and several nieces and nephews.
