CASA GRANDE — Helen “Andy” Erdmann, 97, died peacefully in her sleep with her daughter by her side on April 27, 2020.
Mrs. Erdmann was born in Kingman on Aug. 13, 1922, to J. Max and Hazel Anderson. She attended Arizona State (now University), where she met the love of her life, William Erdmann. They married on Feb. 7, 1947, and moved to Casa Grande. She was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church and served as a deacon for several years. She also was an adviser for the Rainbow Girls and loved mentoring the young ladies.
One special memory that she had was staying on the beach in San Diego and baking cookies for the lifeguards. One year she was honored by the Pacific Beach lifeguards thanking her for her watchful eye and assisting them in identifying problem areas and riptides for the safety of the swimmers. They gave her a pair of binoculars like the ones they used and a plaque that she was very proud of.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Sandra Wakefield; a son, Robert Erdmann; and a grandson, Manuel Ochoa. She is survived by a daughter, Sally Ochoa; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial service to be held later.
Donations may be made in her name to Hospice of the Valley.
J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel in charge of arrangements.
