ELOY — Flavia Martinez Acosta, 85, of Eloy died on June 28, 2020.
Ms. Acosta was born in San Antonio de la Huerta, Sonora, Mexico. She was raised in El Claro, Sonora. She worked for the Hidden Valley water utility and was a pioneer in getting water to residents there as the district received $1 million in federal money under former President Barack Obama.
She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed bringing them together to partake in her Mexican cuisine.
Survivors include two daughters, Maria Carmen Castano and Maria Pavon; eight sons, Arnulfo, Gilberto, Arturo, Edmundo Mendez, Francisco Mendez Jr., Miguel, Jose Luis and Eduardo Mendez; two sisters, Consuelo Villegas and Petra Martinez; a brother, Horatio Martinez; 31 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Edelia Mendez, and her husband, Francisco X. Mendez, with whom she lovingly shared 11 children.
Visitation beginning at 8 a.m. on Thursday, July 2, at Apostolic Assembly in Eloy, with service at 9 and Pastor Felix Bermejo officiating. Burial in Eloy Memorial Park.
