FLORENCE — Elsie Christine Chisum, 96, of Florence died on Nov. 13, 2021, in Casa Grande with her family by her side.

Mrs. Chisum was born on June 28, 1925, in Litchfield Park to Laust and Karen Lauridsen. She was a lifelong resident of Arizona and graduated from Florence High School in 1944. She married the love of her life, Walter Chisum, in 1972 and worked for the Arizona Department of Corrections before retiring in 1982.

Loved by many, she had an infectious smile and would brighten anyone’s day. She enjoyed outdoor activities, going to casinos, Mexican food and spending time with her family and friends. The last few months, her grandson would visit her weekly and take her favorite strawberry milkshake per her request.

Survivors include four daughters, Linda Joy Lucas of Coquille, Oregon, Vicki Pettit of Phoenix, Laurie Gillie of Vermilion, Ohio, and René Gruber of Goodyear; a son, Walter Phillip Chisum of Apache Junction; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter in 2000; a son, Richard Hogan; and four siblings, Henry and Laurence Lauridsen, Gertrude Ashcraft and Vivian Solus.

Visitation beginning at 9 a.m. with funeral at 10 on Saturday, Nov. 20, at First Baptist Church in Coolidge, with Pastor Trevor McShane officiating. Interment in Heritage Valley Memorial Park in Coolidge.
