ELOY — Edwarda Murrieta, 96, of Eloy died peacefully on Jan. 3, 2022, with her loving family by her side.

Mrs. Murrieta was born on Oct. 13, 1925, in Miami, Arizona, to Alejandro Garcia and Angela Zaragoza. She was a very strict but giving person. She had a way of comforting her loved ones and friends to let them know they could always come to her. She loved her animals, especially her dogs.

She was a professional seamstress who sewed both of her daughters' wedding gowns along with countless dresses for her grandchildren.

She is survived by three sisters, Angelina Belmonte, Teresa Sambrano and Frances Esquivel; two daughters and a son, Piedad Sanchez, Dalia Guevara and Jaime Murrietta Jr.; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by several siblings, her husband Baltazar and son Jaime Murrietta Sr.

Visitation beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 14, at St. Helen of the Cross Catholic Church. Rosary recited at 10 and funeral Mass celebrated at 10:30. Burial in Eloy Memorial Park.
