SACATON — Annie Emma Yazzie, 85, died on Nov. 18, 2019, in Mesa.
Ms. Yazzie was a Diné (Navajo) woman born on Aug. 2, 1934, in Fort Defiance to Charley and Emma George. She lived in Sacaton for almost 40 years and worked for the Gila River Indian Community in food preparation at Gila River Casinos.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and retirement for the past 10 years. In her spare time she made jewelry and did beadwork. She was known for her hugs, kisses and fry bread.
She is survived by five adult children, Jennie, Ron, Ben, Vennie and John; three sisters, Carol, Alice and Mary; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Graveside service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23, in Sacaton East Cemetery.
