CASA GRANDE — Burial for Barbara “Annie” Lopez, 65, of Casa Grande will be in Douglas at Calvary Cemetery in a private ceremony on April 23.
Mrs. Lopez died on Nov. 30, 2020, in Mesa after battling cancer.
She was born in Douglas on Dec. 12, 1954. She was a fighter and overcame many obstacles in her life and never let anyone tell her that she couldn’t do something. She was a woman of tremendous faith, and when it became obvious the cancer could not be beaten, she looked at her cancer as a sign from God and just kept telling everyone, “God willing, I’m going home!” She didn’t want people feeling sorry for her, and she didn’t want any sympathy. Her hope was that her outlook on cancer and her upcoming death would inspire others.
She lived in Flagstaff, Chandler, Queen Creek and finally Casa Grande. She loved being outdoors and gardening, camping, fishing, raising chickens and horseback riding. She was an artist and a builder, making everything from benches to horse corrals. Her vision allowed her to see the beauty in this world and in others that most people couldn’t see.
Survivors include her husband, true love and soulmate of 40 years, Manuel; three adult children, Will, Casey and Shawna; and her grandchildren.
