Performance review: Chavis had 324 total yards (234 rush) and 5 TDs (3 rush, 2 receiving) in a 49-12 win over Phoenix Central last week.
Coach’s comments: “Anytime an individual is recognized in a team game, I have mixed feelings about it. Mister realizes he can’t get these things done on his own--the snap (Center) has to get to our QB and then our OL has to create an opportunity--likewise our QB has to get the snap and throw him the ball and again our OL has to create opportunities and receivers have to block downfield. Having said all that, take nothing away from Mister. He was provided those opportunities and his efforts from January until now (all the speed, agility, strength work) helped him maximize those opportunities that resulted in huge plays for our team. We are starting to just shrug around here at what he does. He’s a special student, athlete and young man. We’re happy he plays for the Rams.” — Maricopa coach Brandon Harris
