FLORENCE — A Tempe man who is accused of causing the deaths of two disabled teenagers near Maricopa appeared in Pinal County Superior Court Wednesday.
Akarsh Cholaveti, 27, was scheduled to go to trial on Sept. 9 but the trial was moved back Wednesday after defense attorneys asked for more time for their investigators to work on the case. Attorneys also told Pinal County Superior Court Judge Delia Neal there could still be a possible plea agreement worked out.
Neal scheduled Cholaveti to appear at a status conference and a trial setting conference on Sept. 4.
Cholaveti is facing two counts of manslaughter, a Class 2 felony, for a motor vehicle crash that claimed the lives of Michael Voss, 17, and his 16-year-old brother, Matthew, on Oct. 29, 2018.
Cholaveti is free from custody after posting bond.
